*Artist/Artisan:** Sato Suigai (佐藤翠崕) - Signed with red Hanko stamp on base- **Type:** Sosaku (Creative) Kokeshi- **Era:** Showa Period (Circa 1960s)- **Origin:** Handcrafted in Japan- **Material:** Solid Wood- **Height:** Approx. 3.5 inches / 9 cm**Product Description:**For your consideration is a beautiful, authentic vintage Japanese Sosaku (Creative) Kokeshi doll by the award-winning mid-century master craftsman, Sato Suigai (1920-present).This charming miniature folk art figurine features a distinctively oversized, sweetly tilted head with delicately hand-painted down-turned eyes and straight bangs. The bulbous, tapered wooden body is finished in a vibrant pink lacquer and decorated with a signature gold butterfly motif. The underside of the base features the artist's crisp, red authentic signature stamp ("Suigai").**Condition:**Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina. The wood grain has been inspected and shows absolutely NO cracking or splitting. There is minor, typical vintage surface discoloration and minor scuffs on the back of the untreated wood head, which adds to its nostalgic mid-century charm. Please review all photos carefully for dimensions and cosmetic condition details.
