Up for sale is a vintage hand-carved wooden folk art nutcracker. This unique, unmarked piece features a detailed caricature of a miner or laborer leaning on a shovel with a carved tree stump/rock accent at his feet. He wears a wide-brimmed hat, sculpted mustache, yellow apron, and blue trousers. This is a fully functional nutcracker operated by a long, sturdy wooden lever built into the back of the figure. Pressing the lever drops the jaw smoothly, revealing a hollowed-out crushing chamber (as shown in the open-mouth photo). It features a wonderful rustic, hand-painted finish that beautifully highlights the original artisan chisel and knife marks. **Condition:** Good vintage working condition. The lever mechanism moves smoothly and operates the jaw perfectly. Cosmetically, the piece is in great shape for its age with only minor, typical vintage paint scuffs/loss.
