Up for sale is a rare piece of early 20th-century West Coast industrial history: an authentic, antique "Bear Brand" advertising promotional paperweight from the Great Western Electro-Chemical Co. of San Francisco, California.The Design: Features a charmingly detailed, heavy cast-metal grizzly bear seated upright while examining an open book. The rectangular block base is cleanly embossed on the front face reading: "GREAT WESTERN ELECTRO-CHEMICAL CO."Historical Significance: This piece was produced as an industrial executive premium to advertise the company's famous chemical compounds and mining flotation reagents used throughout the 1920s and 1930s.Condition Notes: Fully intact with no structural breaks or repairs. The cast metal retains an authentic dark, aged patina with light surface oxidation/weathering lines typical of century-old industrial office ephemera.
