<p>1940 first day cover for U.S. #894, the 3c Pony Express 80th Anniversary issue. Canceled Sacramento, Calif., April 3, 1940, 9 AM, with a "First Day of Issue" machine cancel. Sacramento was the western end of the Pony Express route.</p><p><strong>Cachet:</strong> Red and black "80th Anniversary of the Pony Express" cachet reproducing the 1869 2c stamp design, "The 1869 Two Cent Featured the Pony Express – First Day Cover."</p><p><strong>Address:</strong> Typed address to Paul Nolte, Nampa, Idaho.</p><p><strong>Condition:</strong> Faint purple ink mark at the top of the front and on the back flap. Old tape or hinge stains at the upper and lower right corners of the back. Stamp and cancel are clear.
