Canceled Boston, Mass., February 5, 1940, 9 AM, with a "First Day of Issue" machine cancel.</p><p><strong>Cachet:</strong> Purple open-book cachet with a portrait of Emerson, "Famous American Authors – Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1803 – 1882."</p><p><strong>Address:</strong> Pencil address to a stamp company in Forest Hills, N.Y.</p><p><strong>Condition:</strong> Faint purple ink mark at the top of the front.
