Hooson in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, the long, detailed message provides a wonderful narrative of an ambitious 1980s travel itinerary through Egypt, including volunteer work:"Friday 18th July 1986. Dear Grandad...It's quite hard work but enjoyable. The weather is pretty hot and of course it never rains. However, we are getting used to it and I think when we get back a week tomorrow it will be a shock seeing rain again! Won't be at all used to it!! ...Then we will spend 4 days near Cairo helping in an orphanage.
