Social History: This postcard is a unique piece of British television and culinary history. It was used as a competition entry for a Cookery Giveaway featured in the Radio Times, the UK's premier television listings magazine. The message is an entry for a "Gift Group" giveaway, requesting "3 Floyd Cookbooks (BBC Books) Please." This refers to the legendary celebrity chef Keith Floyd, who revolutionized cooking shows with his spontaneous "glass of wine in one hand" style.Scene: The front of the card features a beautiful reproduction of "Le Boulevard des Italiens - Paris 1889" by the French artist Edmond Georges Grandjean, showing a rich variety of 19th-century transport, including private carriages, horse-drawn omnibuses, and hansom cabs weaving through the prosperous population.
