Offered is a vintage 1946 Smith-Corona Sterling portable manual typewriter with its original carrying case. The typewriter has been manually tested. All keys move freely, the carriage travels smoothly from side to side, and the carriage return functions properly. The ribbon currently installed is torn and unusable. Because of the damaged ribbon, a complete typing sample was not performed. The new owner should install a replacement ribbon before regular use. The serial number prefix 4A is visible, confirming a 1946 production series. The remaining serial digits have become worn and are no longer fully readable. Case condition: Original carrying case is included, but it has heavy age-related wear. The top lid is fully separated/detached from the lower case at the back hinge/fabric area. The front latches still close, but the back no longer holds the lid attached. Case covering has tears, fraying, exposed wood, rust on hardware, stains, scuffs, and deterioration. Case is included as-is. This typewriter is an excellent addition to a vintage office collection, display, restoration project, or for anyone who appreciates classic mechanical writing machines.
