Transport your child's bookshelf, home curriculum, or nursery display back to the golden era of mid-century schoolhouses! This complete sequential set includes every title from #1 to #25, taking early readers on a beautiful journey from classic fairy tales (The Gingerbread Boy, The Three Little Pigs) to mid-century illustrated favorites (The Outside Cat, The Chicken in the Tunnel, and Archie Angel). The covers feature vibrant, quintessential 1960s color palettes and striking graphic illustrations that look spectacular fanned out on a nursery shelf, book ledge, or mantel. Set includes original crimson red cardboard box.Publisher: The Economy Company (Oklahoma City / Atlanta / Indianapolis)Era: Mid-Century Modern (circa 1965–1968)Format: 25 Numbered Softcover Booklets in Cardboard Slip BoxTarget Grade: Primary I / Early ReadingManufactured for School Districts: Never intended for sale to the general public Wholesome Early Learning: Perfect as a vintage homeschool reading curriculum or a nostalgic screen-free reading corner collection.Features Mid-Century Literary Icons & Award-Winning Illustrators: This collector's treasure prominently features four sought-after titles by the beloved Margot Austin—including Growl Bear, Archie Angel, Brave John Henry, and The Three Silly Kittens—whose whimsical animal stories and soft illustration style have a highly dedicated following today. You will also find captivating work by Inez Hogan (The Littlest Bear and Monkey See Monkey Do), a prolific writer of 20th-century children's literature. The Outside Cat by Jane Thayer, showcases gorgeous artwork by legendary illustrator Feodor Rojankovsky, the distinguished 1956 Caldecott Medal winner whose mid-century graphic stylings are highly collected in their own right. The set even includes the scarce early childhood title The Little Orange Book by John Donovan, who later became a highly influential trailblazer in young adult fiction.Because these specific Economy Company softcover variants were printed exclusively for the classroom market and never sold in retail bookstores, having these famous creators compiled in one unbroken, complete vintage lot is an exceptionally rare find!Condition: Set has been wonderfully preserved for its age with absolutely no musty smells, water damage, or interior writing/scribbles. Booklets are in very good vintage condition, though a few show light corner creasing or gentle cover wear from light handling. One booklet features a small, back cover tear that has been repaired with tape. Original Box: The cardboard storage box is sturdy with sharp text graphics, though shows black staining and some label wear. One edge has a historic, clean repair utilizing vintage stripping tape, which beautifully preserves its structural integrity for immediate display and functional use.Shipping: Items are carefully padded and packed to survive shipping. Upgraded service and insurance provided as feasible. Certain locations (such as HI or AK) or P.O. boxes may incur additional cost.
