Very good pre-owned condition. No rips, tears or stains. See photos for more details.A first edition copy of Doctors in the Air, written by Wing Commander Robert Maycock and published in London by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. in 1957. Maycock was one of the first two RAF doctors to successfully complete the full wartime pilot's training course. In this memoir, he details the hair-raising experiments, hypoxia/anoxia tests, and aviation medicine breakthroughs conducted at Farnborough during and immediately after World War II.This copy is also a historical artifact of mid-century transatlantic book distribution. It features the original vintage ink warehouse stamp on the inside flap of the dust jacket from the U.S. importer: Thos. Nelson & Sons, Copewood & Davis Sts, Camden NJ. Directly below the company name, it features the stamped U.S. retail price code of 375 ($3.75). The very bottom corner of the flap was publisher-clipped prior to retail sale to remove the original British price.Item Details:Title: Doctors in the AirAuthor: Wing Commander Robert MaycockPublisher: George Allen & Unwin LTD (London)U.S. Distributor: Thomas Nelson & Sons (Camden, NJ)Publication Date: 1957 (First Published / True First Edition)Format: Hardcover with original pictorial dust jacketPage Count: 145 pages plus 15 unnumbered pages of photographic platesSuper fast shipping - we ship out the next business day.
