<p>1940 first day cover for U.S. #899, the 1c Statue of Liberty issue from the National Defense Series, franked with a strip of 3 with right selvage. Canceled Washington, D.C., October 16, 1940, 9 AM, with a "First Day of Issue" machine cancel.</p><p><strong>Cachet:</strong> Green "National Defense – First Day Cover" cachet of the Statue of Liberty.</p><p><strong>Address:</strong> Handwritten address to David L. Blauvelt, 13 Russell Road, Westfield, Mass.</p><p><strong>Condition:</strong> Clean front. Light brown staining along both back flap seams (old glue/hinge residue). Stamps and cancel are clear.
