Category-Grade Vintage Late 1950s DKW Auto Union 1000 / 3=6 Speedometer Gauge Core by VDO — Bare Internal Mechanism — Weathered Face & Needle — For Parts or Restoration — UntestedUp for sale is an original VDO Analog Speedometer Gauge Core Mechanism, manufactured in West Germany during the late 1950s. This classic style with the iconic gold/bronze spiral center dial face was originally featured on DKW 3=6 (F93/F94) and Auto Union 1000 models. The kilometer odometer wheels currently show 00,000 on the front but feature mismatched digits from the side view. IMPORTANT CONDITION, PARTS & TESTING NOTE (PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING):Missing Components: This listing is for the bare internal gauge core mechanism ONLY. It is completely missing the rear protective metal canister/housing shell, the front glass lens, and the outer decorative chrome bezel ring. It is being sold exactly as pictured.Weathered Face & Needle: The dial face features a heavily weathered, aged vintage patina from decades of storage. The orange indicator needle is structurally straight and intact (not broken), but the original paint has heavily flaked, oxidized, and developed a thick white vintage weathered surface patina. It is an excellent candidate for a steady repaint/restoration project or a donor core.Functional Status: This unit is completely UNTESTED and sold strictly AS-IS for parts, salvage donor core, or a rebuild project.
