Formed in 2001, The Displaced was an indie & alternative rock band originally founded by core songwriting partners M Simon Mandel and Jennifer Jansen. While rooted initially in Brooklyn, New York, the band relocated to Southern California, quickly anchoring themselves within the San Diego independent music scene. Their early sound features a raw, melodic, and sinewy guitar-driven aesthetic that drew frequent comparisons to the Pixies, seamlessly blending flinty East Coast indie grit with West Coast garage pop.The Nine Tracks album stands as the band's earliest official self-released document, featuring contributions from Clifford Cunningham, Peter Ryan, and Tim Reece. The group went on to record with local San Diego production staple Mike Kamoo at Earthling Studios and became a familiar name on regional stage lineups, performing live sets at iconic San Diego staples like The Casbah.
