<p>Rare CDr. Formed in Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau), New Zealand, Golden Axe is an eccentric synth-pop and electronic outsider duo consisting of CJ Cudby (keyboards, distorted vocals; also of Power Nap) and Daif King (bass, synthesizer; also of the speed metal outfit Stälker). Taking their name from the vintage Sega arcade game, the pair emerged out of the 2000s New Zealand underground scene, blending analog synth textures (using Roland Juno-6 and 707 gear), distorted mic processing, and catchy, danceable hooks with a chaotic DIY performance-art ethos.</p> <p>1.
