Ovadu was an underground hip-hop group from Atlanta that put out Whut’s Up in 1995, as the Southern rap scene was taking off. It’s a regional, independent release that never got wide distribution, so copies are hard to find today. The album is a strong example of mid-90s Southern gangsta rap: hard-hitting beats, funky low-end production and the raw, unpolished feel that collectors of indie Southern rap look for. Tracks like the title cut “Whut’s Up,” “Lies” and “Charge It To The Game” capture the gritty Atlanta sound before it went mainstream. It’s a solid, overlooked piece of Dirty South history and a good find for anyone collecting regional or private-press 90s rap.Condition: Very Good. Please see photos for details.
