Add timeless European character to your fireplace or home décor with this vintage copper coal scuttle, also known as an ash hod or fireplace coal bucket. The piece features a hand-hammered copper body, decorative brass lion head mounts, and a blue & white Delft-style ceramic carrying handle. The elegant sweeping shape makes it equally attractive as a fireplace accessory, decorative planter, umbrella holder, or wine/champagne cooler. This example retains its original character with a naturally aged copper patina. It also has an old professional solder repair to the body, adding evidence of its long working life. The original rear ceramic tipping handle is missing, although the rear support bar remains attached. Because the maker is unmarked, the exact manufacturer and country of origin are unknown.
