ABOUT THE ORIGIN From a Mahan-Era Relic to Your Front Door This chime begins with the Tiger-Shaped Belt Hook, a Mahan-era relic held by the Cheongju National Museum (Cheongju 60612), an ornament depicting the tiger as a symbol of power and authority. In Korean culture the tiger has long stood for bravery, strength and the driving away of bad energy.
