Vintage 1949 Zenith Portable Tube Radio - Model 4G903 "Tip Top Holiday" (FOR PARTS / REPAIR)Up for sale is a highly collectible piece of post-WWII American radio design—the 1949 Zenith "Tip Top Holiday" portable AM tube radio, model 4G903. This vintage unit features an incredibly unique design where the front chevron panel swings down, causing the entire tuning dial console to automatically tilt up into view. The internal electronics are currently non-working, and the radio does not play sound. It is sold completely AS-IS for components, structural restoration, technical hobby repair, or as a period-accurate vintage prop.Chassis & Interior: The rear internal compartment shows a complete chassis layout with vintage vacuum tubes and transformers intact. The metal chassis plate displays authentic surface oxidation, light rust spots, and dust accumulation consistent with an authentic 75+ year old find.Extras: Includes the original back cover assembly containing the rare, authentic factory paper tube placement layout and wiring schematic diagram label on the interior wall.Cosmetics: The inner dial display and lower control area are beautifully preserved. Both original matching cream knobs remain firmly attached to their posts. The brown speaker grille cloth behind the plastic framework shows authentic aging, dust, and mild discoloration. The outer grey plastic body shows expected vintage cosmetic scuffs, minor scratches, and standard signs of handling from its long lifespan.
