Vintage Miller & Rhoads Department Store Charge Card – Cary, North Carolina PLUS Vintage Phillips 66 Petroleum Company Credit Card Offered here is an interesting piece of Southern retail history: an original vintage Miller & Rhoads charge card issued to a customer in Cary, North Carolina. Miller & Rhoads was a historic Southern department store chain with roots dating to the late 19th century. The company operated for more than a century before ultimately disappearing, making surviving store advertising and charge cards interesting pieces of regional retail memorabilia. The Miller & Rhoads card features the company’s distinctive green design with floral decoration and embossed customer information for Cary, NC. The reverse retains the original authorized customer signature. BONUS CARD INCLUDED Also included with this lot is an original vintage Phillips 66 / Phillips Petroleum Company credit card. The Phillips card features the classic Phillips 66 shield logo on the front and multiple period petroleum/automotive logos on the reverse, including Phillips 66, Pacific 66, Pier 66, Esso, Exxon and Getty. The Phillips card is included as an additional bonus collectible with the Miller & Rhoads card. CONDITION Both cards are vintage, previously used examples. They show expected age and use including surface wear, discoloration/toning, marks, scratches and handwritten signatures. Embossed information and other signs of previous use are present. These are expired/obsolete cards and are being sold strictly as vintage collectibles/memorabilia. They have no represented financial or credit value and are not being sold for functional use.
