Vintage black-and-white Hollywood publicity/press photograph featuring Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer actress Laraine Day wearing an American Red Cross uniform and standing beside a Red Cross vehicle.The vehicle is prominently marked:AMERICAN RED CROSS LOS ANGELES CHAPTERThis is an especially attractive WWII-era image combining Golden Age Hollywood, American Red Cross and Los Angeles history.The reverse retains a period typed publicity caption identifying Laraine Day as a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer actress and describing the Red Cross uniform shown in the photograph.The caption reads:“LARAINE DAY… Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer actress, poses in the different uniforms of Red Cross workers. One label shows a production date of 07/08/2015.The frame is NOT original to the photograph and is not vintage.It is included simply as a convenient display frame and is not represented as part of the photograph’s historical provenance.Hanging cord/hardware is present on the reverse.CONDITIONThis is an approximately 80+ year old photographic print and it shows visible age-related wear and deterioration.Observed condition issues include: Overall age-related toning/discoloration Surface marks and wear Several small areas of image/emulsion loss, particularly in the upper portion Edge and corner wear Creasing/bending near the upper right corner Noticeable surface/image loss and discoloration near the lower right corner Age-related staining and discoloration on the reverse Marks/staining along portions of the upper reverse Staining and surface/paper loss near the lower left area of the reverse Additional small age-related imperfections may be present Despite these issues, the primary image remains strong and clearly visible, including Laraine Day, the Red Cross uniform, vehicle and prominent “AMERICAN RED CROSS – LOS ANGELES CHAPTER” lettering.The period typed caption on the reverse remains readable.The modern frame is pre-owned and may also show light scratches, scuffs or other signs of use/storage.Please examine ALL listing photographs and close-ups carefully.
