Retail
What a new shopper pays for the item today, smoothed over the last 90 days. Shown as one figure. The list price, when a brand publishes one, is shown separately and never as retail.
A hub or lot page shows up to four prices, each one labelled, never blended into one average. This page explains where each number comes from, what it excludes and how often it changes.
Method last revised 17 Sep 2026.
Up to four labelled prices. Each one answers a different question, so none of them is averaged into another.
What a new shopper pays for the item today, smoothed over the last 90 days. Shown as one figure. The list price, when a brand publishes one, is shown separately and never as retail.
The median of completed sales over the last 12 months, with the typical range. New with tags and pre-owned are priced separately wherever we have both.
The median of completed eBay sales by Closo sellers. Condition is not stated for eBay sales, so this figure is one group and is compared with the "any condition" resale line.
The lowest all-in price a piece among the live lots on that page, shown as "from". It appears only when it is below the resale median of the same condition group, so a wholesale line you see is always the cheaper way in.
Same condition, same comparison. Prices are compared only within one condition group: New against new, Pre-owned or any condition against the same. A wholesale figure next to per-piece prices is always labelled a piece, so you are never reading a lot total against a single sale.
A resale price is what buyers actually paid, not what sellers asked. Listings that are still for sale, however many there are, do not move the number. The sales counts on a page are the sales we tracked, not the whole market's.
The eBay figures come from Closo sellers' own eBay sales. An eBay price is shown only when at least two different sellers sold that item type; sellers' names are never shown. Condition is not stated for eBay sales, so they are one group.
Retail is the price a new shopper actually pays, smoothed over the last 90 days so that a one-day promotion or a stock-out does not become "the price". The figure is the Buy Box price; when there is no Buy Box we take the price of a new unit from any seller, and when there is none of that, Amazon's own price, where we have it.
The list price (MSRP), where a brand publishes one, is shown on its own line and is never presented as retail. Most items never sell at list.
On a lot page, a retail figure carries one of three labels, and they mean different things:
Closo began keeping Amazon price history in September 2026; changes over time are shown only once enough history has accumulated.
"From $X a piece" is the lowest all-in price a piece among the live lots on that page: the lot price divided by the number of units the supplier stated, with nothing hidden in a later step.
Short answers on the four prices and why one of them is sometimes missing.
A wholesale price appears only when a live lot on that page has a supplier-stated unit count and its all-in price a piece is below the resale median for the same condition. Lots without a stated count are listed but never priced a piece, and salvage, damaged or as-is lots are never priced a piece either. When no live lot clears that bar, the wholesale line stays empty rather than showing a number that would not help you.
Retail is what a new shopper pays today on Amazon, smoothed over 90 days. Resale is the median of completed sales on Poshmark or eBay over the last 12 months. They measure different buyers, different conditions and different moments, so they are shown side by side and never averaged into one figure.
On a lot page, "same product on Amazon" means a UPC or ASIN match with the retail listing. "Same line on Amazon" means the same product line where the exact variant, such as a shade or a size, may differ. "Typical retail on Amazon" means the typical price of a new piece of the same brand and type, never the exact item and never multiplied by the unit count of the lot.
From Closo sellers' own eBay sales. An eBay figure is shown only when at least two different sellers sold that item type; sellers' names are never shown. Condition is not stated for eBay sales, so they are shown as one group.
Every lot page carries the four prices with the labels explained above.
