A category appears once at least 5 live lots stand behind it. Lots without a unit count are counted as lots and leave the per-unit figures alone.

Parcel or freight decides who can buy

A parcel lot lands at any door. A freight lot needs a dock or a lift gate. Here is the split across the whole catalogue.

  • Parcel 87.6%
  • Freight 12.4%

Every lot resolves to one mode or the other, so the two shares add to 100.

Where the lots ship from

Freight is quoted from the lot's origin to your ZIP. The state a lot ships from is part of its price.

  • NJ1,500 lots · 24.6%
  • FL1,297 lots · 21.2%
  • IN981 lots · 16.1%
  • NC812 lots · 13.3%
  • TN328 lots · 5.4%
  • CA299 lots · 4.9%
  • WI173 lots · 2.8%
  • MD126 lots · 2.1%

Shares are of the 23 states named by live lots, not of the whole catalogue.

What the goods inside fetch, one at a time

Sold prices on the resale market, measured on listings by Closo resellers. The index says what a unit costs. This says what a unit fetches.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What the index measures, where the numbers come from and how to quote them.

What is the Closo Liquidation Index?

A monthly measurement of the wholesale liquidation market as it appears on Closo Wholesale. It covers the median price per unit by category, the share of lots that ship parcel versus freight, the states lots ship from, and how long sold lots took to clear. Every number is computed from the live catalogue and the sold archive on the day the index is built. Nothing is typed by hand or estimated.

Where do the numbers come from?

The live half is every liquidator lot the marketplace was serving when the index was built, the same set the catalogue pages show. Price per unit is the buyer's all-in price divided by the lot's declared unit count. The sold half is every lot that cleared inside September 2026, measured from the day it was listed to the day it sold. The resale prices are the medians from the Closo resale price guide, measured on sold listings by Closo resellers on the resale market.

May I quote these numbers?

Yes. The index is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 licence. Quote any figure with a credit to the Closo Liquidation Index and a link to this page. The same table is available as JSON and CSV by adding ?format=json or ?format=csv to this address.

How often is it updated?

The current month is rebuilt every morning as lots come and go. On the first of each month the month that just ended is closed and archived, and a new one opens. Past months keep their own permanent address and are never rewritten.
