Questions
What the calculator measures, what it estimates, and what it refuses to invent.
Where do the resale prices come from?
From sold listings on the resale marketplaces. The same data powers the resale price guide and the Manifest Analyzer. For each product type we hold the 20th percentile, the median and the 80th percentile of sold prices over the last 365 days, plus how many days a sale took. A broad category such as women's clothing covers fifteen product types. It is priced at the sample-weighted average of every clothing type, and the page says so.
Is the freight number a quote?
No. It is the one number here we cannot measure for you. A real quote needs a real lot: its pallet count, its weight and the ZIP it ships from. You have not chosen one yet. So we show what live lots in that category on Closo charge for shipping right now. That is the 20th, 50th and 80th percentile of their postage. Once you pick a lot, checkout quotes it properly against your ZIP.
Why does my ZIP not change the number?
Because it honestly cannot yet. Freight is priced lane by lane, from the seller's dock to yours. Until you name a lot, there is no dock. Your ZIP is used at checkout, where the quote is real. We would rather print a range and say what it is than invent a precise number.
Which marketplace fees are used?
The published headline rate of each marketplace: Poshmark 20%, eBay about 13%, Mercari 10%, Depop 10%. These are typical rates, not your rates. Promotions, category rules and store subscriptions all move them, so check the current schedule where you sell. Pick the one you actually use in the fee selector.
What is break-even sell-through?
The share of units that has to sell for the lot to pay back its all-in cost. It assumes the median resale price and the fee you picked. Above 100% means the lot does not pay back at that price, however long you hold it. Sell-through itself is the share that typically sells within a year. It is measured per brand and per product type from real marketplace data.
How accurate is this?
It is an estimate, not a guarantee. Every number on this page is a measured median or percentile of other people's sales. Yours will differ with your photos, your prices, your timing and the pieces in the lot. Use it to compare lots and to sanity-check an asking price, not as a promise of profit.
